This is your school and you are welcome here at any time. There are many opportunities for you to contribute to the school and your participation is encouraged and appreciated. For example:
Research has shown that parental participation in school activities not only benefits the school but also improves the performance and attitudes of the children of those parents.
Council meeting dates can be found in the weekly newsletter.
Council meets on the fourth Tuesday of each month at 7:30 p.m. in the Meeting Room.
Sub-Committees meet each month prior to the Council meeting.
Elections for School Council are held in March of each year.
The Parents' Club extends an open invitation to all parents (male or female), friends or guardians of children at Alfredton Primary School to join us and become involved in the life of the school. The Parents' Club meets (meeting times and dates can be found in the newsletter) regularly on the first Wednesday of each month at alternate day and evening timeslots which are held at the school in a friendly and informal atmosphere. Membership levy is $1.00 and financial members have the right to vote at meeting.
The Parents' Club provides parents with the opportunity to discuss the education of their children, to raise issues, to keep up to date with school events and to have a say in decision-making in the school. Consistent participation in Parents' Club by all parents also ensures that worthwhile and useful decisions can be made about the development of our school. The Parents' Club is also the major fundraiser within the school and it contributes substantial revenue to the school's budget. Such funds enhance the quality of education offered to our children.
Parent Contact - Teaching Staff
We encourage active participation with staff in relation to your child and classroom activities. Whilst an open door policy is very important it is also appropriate for parents to make arrangements with staff in advance if you have issues to discuss. This allows staff to give you the time and their attention to deal with your concerns or questions. Parents are welcome to call in before or after school to see classroom work.
