Enrolling a child into a new school is an experience that can be mixed with emotions of fear of the unknown, excitement, expectation and shyness.
Whether it be a first time enrolment or shifting school, the process needs to be informative and supportive acknowledging the need to provide quality information and first hand visitation.
At Alfredton all "new" families are encouraged to visit the school and with the principal and school captains take a guided tour to gather a first hand experience of the environment.
Every encouragement is made to parents to either bring prepared questions about the school and it's progress or ask questions during the initial contact. At the end of the visit I hope that all parents and children have gained the information they require to make a decision.
Neighbourhood families are guaranteed a place within the school but families outside the neighbourhood may enrol dependent on the availability of places.
Formal documentation and an enrolment folder are available upon request and are presented at the initial visit. Every encouragement is made to ensure children and parents alike have as much information as possible available.
