In addition to the many art activities undertaken by the classroom teachers in relation to their normal daily lessons, all children have weekly art sessions in our well-resourced art room..
In this visual arts program the children will experience working with various media.
When utilising clay, the children have the opportunity to have a go at both hand crafting and the pottery wheels. Most of the pottery is fired and students get to glaze some of their work.
Various experiences are given in painting and drawing activities. Much of the children's work is displayed in classrooms and corridor display boards, not only to reinforce and emphasise the value of their work but also to allow them to appreciate the efforts of their peers. In many instances, activities are related thematically to areas of study in the classroom or community events such as the Begonia Festival.

During the course of the year students are also involved in constructional activities using recycled materials. (Due to health regulations, toilet roll tubes and milk cartons cannot be used.) Other scrap materials from home will be gratefully accepted.
As many of the activities in the Art Room involve the use of paints and glues which are extremely difficult to remove from clothes, it is imperative that all children should wear an art smock or shirt. It is preferable that the smock is waterproof, but an old shirt of Dad's with the child's name clearly marked will certainly suffice.
