School Sports 2008
On Thursday the 21st of
February, Alfredton Primary School had its annual sports day at Llanberris.
At about 9 o’clock all
of grade three upwards got on the bus; I’m not sure how long it took to get to Llanberris
but it felt like a very long time. I am 11 years old and most of my friends are
12 so we were in different groups. I had made a goal for myself to get at least
one blue ribbon by the end of the day, to get a blue ribbon in the field events
you have to get a 3, so my hopes weren’t very high..
My first field event was
long jump. I am not too bad at long jump; I got two 2’s and a “no jump”.
Second I had shot-put,
when I was in prep I won shot-put, but not this time. I got a 2 and a 3 but I
didn’t get a blue ribbon because I only got one 3.
After shot-put was
playlunch, but shot-put went overtime so I didn’t get much time to eat.
Next I had high jump,
which I suck at. I couldn’t make height 2 or 3 but I got a 1 for trying.
Then I had triple jump, which I am
not too bad at, I hadn’t been successful with my goal for a blue ribbon yet, and
to make a short story really short; triple jump didn’t earn me one.
Finally I had discus.
Not much to be said about this, I was still “blue-ribbon-less.”
At last it was
lunchtime, bringing the end of the field events and the start of the races. My
mum arrived at Llanberris and bought me a hot dog, yum!!
Soon the races had started; I watched a
few, cheering like mad. Then I was called up to race, I waited in line for my
race, stretching my muscles and jogging on the spot. Finally my turn came; take
your mark, get set, GO!! I ran as fast as I could, which landed me in 5th
place of eight people, and that is pretty good for me.
I went back to Lalor’s
bay, and returned to cheering with my friends.
