Canberra Camp 2008

Eliza's Diary
Thursday May 1, 2008

This morning I had an early wake up at camp. It was 6:30am because we had to travel to the AIS and Questacon in Canberra. Questacon was the last place to visit on our itinerary. In Questacon there are lots of weird and wonderful things to investigate and hands on activities such as a tornado room, a 3D shark encounter and a fun room which included the Freefall, Curve ball and other rides. When we got to Questacon we all ran looking very excited to the Freefall! The Freefall is a 6.7 metre vertical drop. When you go down you have to hold onto a bar count to three and let go. Walking up the stairs to go down the Freefall was extremely frightening and when you’re hanging above the drop is even scarier. When you drop you hear everyone cheering for you, you feel like a hero. After I went on the Freefall, Gemma and I went on the Curve Ball. Curve Ball is a ride where two people sit on a spinning seesaw and throw balls to each other while the seesaw spins gradually getting faster. I had lots of energy at Questacon to run around and look at all the different hands-on displays, despite having a late night the night before because I fell out of my bed. At the end of the day we nearly had to get kicked out of Questacon because we stayed there for hours and hours having so much fun. Questacon was the best thing we did in Canberra; I really enjoyed it!
