In the month of November, families from Alfredton Primary School have contributed to a community-driven appeal collecting food and other grocery items for drought-affected farming families in the Wimmera & Mallee. The goods are to be divided up into hampers and given out for Christmas.
Schools, churches, local businesses and 3rd Ballarat Scouts delivered goods to York St Church of Christ, where over 240 cartons valued at an estimated $15,000 were gathered for delivery. Our contribution was the equivalent to four shopping trolleys or about $300-400. Thanks to all who contributed and we hope that the Christmas hampers provide encouragement to those who receive them.
