Young Leaders Conference

On Friday the 4th of March we had to get up at 5:30am to go to the Young Leaders Conference. We had to be at school by 6:45am, as the bus was leaving at 6:50 am.

The drive to Melbourne was long and on the way down I sat with a friend. On the way back I sat in a single seat.

Mr. Westaway had the camera and was taking lots of photos. He even got one of the parents before we left school.

Early start Don't worry folks, we'll bring them back safe and sound

The caffeine kicks in Getting ready to go

When we got to Vodafone Arena, we got seated and the speakers started. There were a lot of other schools there as well.

Eating at play time Going for a walk

The first speaker was Yoyo Man who’s real name is Michael Lee. His yoyo’s name was Ned which means

Never give up

Encourage others

Do your best

While he was giving his speech he was showing us the tricks he could do like the Eiffel Tower.

Tim Costello was the next speaker he told us how he wanted to play for Essendon when he was younger. However he never made it. So he went on to world vision which is an origination that helps raises money for countries less fortunate than ours. His main message was to be generous and kind to all.

Then we had a break to have a snack, however some of us, had to miss out as our bags were still on the bus.

Standing for a photo Please don't fall

When we got back from our break Wendy Orr spoke. She is an author.

Her main message was don’t ever laugh at other peoples dreams or our own.

Next was Wesley Dening who was on Big Brother. We saw his tape of eviction. His message to us was to always the day on a good note. For example: - Today is another day it is great to be here and great to be alive.

Hi Mum I'm feeling very tall.

Then we had lunch we sat down on a bit of grass then went for a walk around the MCG where it is under construction.

We got back a bit late from lunch and Matt Welsh was speaking. He talked about his swimming career and how he had been disqualified. He told us that on twice of those disqualifications it was the other guy and the video and proved it but the other guy still wouldn’t admit to it. The other time he knew he was out because he came up after the 15 metre mark in a freestyle race.

Getting ready to go home Sleeping like babies

On the way back we stopped at Mc Donald’s on the Western Ring Road. We got back at school at 4:30pm. It was great day and I learnt that with hard work and some effort all things are achievable.
