Official Building Opening 2005

On November 25, Jacinta Allan, Minister for Education Services, opened the four new general purposes classrooms and amenities block at Alfredton Primary School. The beautiful new facilities, costing in excess of $1 000 000, were jointly funded by the State and Federal governments. The Minister was escorted through the building before attending a whole-school assembly.

The assembly consisted of a rousing rendition of Advance Australia Fair, some gracious speeches and a delightful song presented by 4T. This was followed by a delicious morning tea provided for our distinguished guests who included Catherine King, Federal Member for Ballarat; Karen Overington, State Member for Ballarat West and a variety of representatives from Regional Office, Morton Dunn Architects, School Council and Parents' Club.

Finally a very special painting was hung in the new complex. Entitled, "I Can Climb Mountains", it was donated by our very generous Parents' Club "to acknowledge the significant contribution of School Council Presidents Grant Donald and Bruce Cossins". Artist, Tamara Bekier, was present and promised to explain the story behind the painting at a later date.
